Dr. Sushmita Mitra

Ph.D. (Educational Technology) from IIT, New Delhi. Dr. Sushmita Mitra has been associated with the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), India right from its inception, and had experienced the unfolding of open schooling from concept to reality. She held the position of Director (Student Support Services) in NIOS before voluntary retirement. She was on deputation to Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in the project titled Distance Education Programme (DEP) of District Primary Education Programme (DPEP), and to the Indian Society for Technical Education, New Delhi in a Swiss Development Agency’s Project for development of Technical Learning materials in Computer Science/ Engineering and Electronics and Electrical Engineering. She is an independent consultant and was appointed by the UNDP, to undergo the Feasibility Study of establishing Open schooling System in Afghanistan.  She is also a consultant for Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Vancouver. She has undertaken consultancy in Bangladesh for training the Tutors of Study centers of Open School under Bangladesh Open University, and developed training manuals. She volunteered with the Regional Office in the North, Open University, UK, on an assignment on education of offenders.

She was nominated by UNESCO for the Study visit cum conference in Australia. She acted as a resource person nationally and internationally on various aspects of open and distance learning. She has a number of publications to her credit.

With her knowledge and experience in the field of education and learning she has been associated with KC and has been assisting in the development of assessment tools.
